In the course of our recent community service efforts, we were deeply moved by a concerning issue.
All too often, previously happy and content families lose their smiles when a family member is struck by a severe or chronic illness. The pain of these ailments, compounded by financial stress, can drain the joy from a household. What's truly disheartening is that many of these chronic illnesses can be prevented or effectively treated, leading to recovery when addressed through early prevention and timely treatment.
The well-known adage, "Prevention is better than cure; a disease starts from the shallow," often remains unheeded due to the frenetic pace of modern life, self-neglect, and underestimation of the importance of healthcare.
Women, who often play a pivotal role in their families as both the backbone and caregivers, face tremendous stress in today's demanding world. Juggling responsibilities such as managing households, parenting, finances, and more, many women inadvertently sideline their own health, sometimes to the detriment of their well-being.
In response to these concerns, HERSTORY has embarked on a health awareness campaign, commencing in July 2023, aptly named "A GIFT FOR HER". This initiative aims to provide a valuable gift – a complimentary health check-up – to women, enabling them to access timely testing and rekindle their awareness of their own well-being. By facilitating early detection and prompt treatment, HERSTORY seeks to empower more women to lead healthier and happier lives.
The comprehensive health check-up covers key indicators related to chronic conditions like high blood pressure and high blood sugar. Additionally, it includes a vital cancer index test for ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer typically requires several years to progress from detection to advanced stage, with variances based on individual circumstances and factors. Early detection and diagnosis are crucial to the successful treatment of ovarian cancer. It is so important for regular health check-ups and vigilant monitoring of any bodily changes. Unfortunately, many women, even when undergoing health assessments, tend to overlook these critical additional tests.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the BP HEALTHCARE GROUP for their robust support, which enables us to provide comprehensive health examinations at all their medical centers to the mothers benefiting from our initiative.
HERSTORY's "A GIFT FOR HER 2023" aims to offer a total of 300 complimentary health check-ups to single mothers and families facing economic hardship within our community. This outreach is inclusive of women from diverse ethnic backgrounds and various age groups. Through our unwavering goodwill, we are committed to igniting a stronger awareness of the vital importance of healthcare, guided by our spirit of “Love, Care, Speak."
Our aim is to inspire women to make self-care a top priority, to gain a deeper understanding of their own health, and to boldly confront diseases proactively. With this proactive approach, we envision a future where women live not only healthier and happier lives but also exude confidence, living by the values of "Love, Care, Speak."
