THE 2ND HERSTORY HEALTH & WELLNESS DAY - BRIGHTEN UP YOUR LIFE

Amidst the busy and challenging life, take a moment to pause, embrace the beauty of parenthood, and indulge in some much-needed "ME TIME."

HERSTORY organized the 2023 HERSTORY Health and Wellness Day on March 3rd, 2023, at TASEK CENTRAL in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This year, we chose the theme "Brighten Up Your Life." In today's society, women often juggle between their careers and family, leaving little time to pause and have quality time for themselves. The constant pressures and lack of rest often contribute to chronic illnesses and mental health issues. With this event, we aimed to provide mothers with a brief "ME TIME" and create happy and memorable experiences for them, while also encouraging all women to prioritize self-love, even amidst busy schedules.

For this event, we have collaborated with six community-based organizations that focus on supporting underprivileged families and single mothers. The event took the form of a children's coloring competition. While the children expressed their creativity, the mothers were able to enjoy rare moments of solitude. During this time, the mothers could savor an undisturbed breakfast, engage in worry-free shopping, and participate in our prepared arts and crafts workshops. The main aim was to provide the mothers with a relaxing and enjoyable time for themselves.

We also invited professional photographers to capture beautiful individual and mother-child portraits of the mothers. All the photos belong exclusively to the mothers. Through this gift, we hope to help them preserve these precious memories. When they feel tired, overwhelmed, or on the verge of giving up, they can look at the photos and remember the joyous and carefree morning they spent with themselves, their children, and HERSTORY on March 3rd.

We are delighted to have received tremendous support from the community for this event. On the day of the event, we had a total of 120 children participating in the competition, accompanied by over 100 parents, including families from underprivileged and single-parent households. Witnessing the children's boundless creativity, seeing the long-lost smiles on the mothers' faces, and observing the genuine emotions between mothers and their children, we feel honored to have created these beautiful memories with everyone. We hope that these memories, the joy experienced, and the moments of enlightenment will continue to illuminate their future journeys in life.
